Cefaclor and piroxicam combination is relevant for the pharmaceutical field due to synergistic bactericidal and antiinflammatory potential, provided by the second generation cephalosporin and first generation NSAID. In order to obtain new products with higher pharmacological properties, we developed hard gelatine capsules with cefaclor and piroxicam, in a fixed-dose combination. A multi-analytical approach was carried out by Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). The screening of the antimicrobial activity of the capsules was performed by determination of the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) through microtiter broth dilution method.
