The aim of the study was to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the pharmacotherapeutic effect of the extract R. rosea in obesity including GC-MS analysis, biochemical analysis of blood serum and open field test were also conducted. The purebred 3-month-old white male laboratory rats were divided into three groups, control and two experimental groups with alimentary obesity with and without R. rosea treatment and fed with a low-calorie diet. Body weight decreased significantly with concomitant administration of R. rosea extract in the third group, whereas active weight loss was observed from 263.39 ± 10.80 g on day 25 to 213.34 ± 8.74 g on day 30. Treatment with R. rosea extract reduced total body weight, abdominal fat mass, and lipids. The character of the pathological process was established in the rats with obesity after the application of R. rosea normalized the rats' liver enzyme levels. The open field test showed that the rats treated with R. rosea extract had a pronounced resistance of the nervous system and a moderate level of autonomic and emotional behaviour. The obtained results suggest that R. rosea extract should be used against obesity due to its anti-adipogenic properties.
