EFFECT OF MEDICINAL FUMIGATION TREATMENT WITH LONGDAN XIEGAN DECOCTION AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE THRESHOLD RANGES ON SPERM QUALITY IN PATIENTS

This study examined how Longdan Xiegan decoction medicinal fumigation at different temperatures relieved acute epididymitis pain. Ninety acute epididymitis patients were classified into A, B and C groups. Each group had 30 patients. Fumigation was done twice a day for 14 days at 31 - 33°C, 34 - 36°C and 37 - 39°C. Sperm quality, pain scores, clinical effectiveness and safety were examined at various temperatures. Group A had similar sperm morphology (14.265 ± 3.249%) to group B (11.432 ± 3.124%) at day 28, with no significant difference (p > 0.05) and significantly higher than group C (9.983 ± 2.725%) (p < 0.05). Groups A and B had similar percentages of forward motile spermatozoa (39.964 ± 8.214%), with no significant difference (p > 0.05), and were significantly higher than group C (36.182 ± 9.723) (p < 0.05). Sperm concentration was greater in group A (43.118 ± 22.071) compared to groups B (34.231 ± 20.894) and C (30.873 ± 19.236) (p < 0.05). Groups B and C had similar pain scores at day 28 (1.36 ± 1.03 points) and were lower than group A (1.92 ± 0.83 points) (p < 0.05). In group B (93.33%), treatment efficacy was equivalent to group C (90.00%), but higher than group A (86.67%) (p < 0.05). Additionally, group A had greater scores on scrotal erythema, referred pain, heaviness and epididymitis than groups B and C (p < 0.05). Finally, epididymitis was effectively treated with Longdan Xiegan decoction medical fumigation. Low temperature protects spermatozoa, and increasing TCM fumigation temperature can help recovery. However, too high may degrade sperm quality.
