CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE VOLATILE OILS FROM THE FRUITS AND SEEDS OF THE MEDICINAL PLANT PYCNOCYCLA AUCHERANA DECNE. EX BOISS. FROM IRAN

The essential oil from the fruits and seeds of Pycnocycla aucherana Decne. ex Boiss. growing wild in Iran was isolated by hydrodistillation and analysed by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The main components in fruits were ρ-cymene (21.7%), α-phellandrene (9.0%), spathulenol (6.3%) and β-eudesmol (6.0%). The main components in seeds were trans-isomyristicin (29.9%), isoelemicin (16.1%), β-pinene (13.5%) and linalyl acetate (9.8%).
