DERMATOCOSMETIC EMULSIONS BASED ON ACMELLA OLERACEA EXTRACT: BIOCOMPATIBILITY AND TOLERABILITY STUDIES

The investigations addressed in this study are related to the biocompatibility and tolerability aspects of the dermatocosmetic emulsions based on hydroalcoholic and propanediol extracts of Acmella oleracea as the active compound, to support subsequent in vivo testing and the transition to topical use of the product. Cytotoxicity of the dermatocosmetic emulsions based on Acmella oleracea extracts assessment by MTT test and the evaluation of the morphology of living cells in culture was based on evaluate the effects of the tested extracts on cell morphology, HDFa cells cultured and distributed in 48-well plates, under the same conditions as those presented for the MTT assay. The non-cytotoxic qualities of the assessed emulsions was emphasized by the biocompatibility evaluation of vegetal extracts used as active compound. Acmella oleracea extracts is non-cytotoxic at the examined concentration, according to an investigation of the metabolic processes, morphology, and behaviour of cells in culture. To ascertain the dose-effect characteristics, more research is necessary.
