Special pharmaceutical forms can give rise to challenges in terms of dissolution or in vitro release testing. This article presents the in vitro performance evaluation of soft gelatine capsules containing ibuprofen using three compendial apparatus. The results highlighted the low biopharmaceutical risk associated with this type of formulation, the importance of visual observations, as well as the contribution of mechanical stress in predicting in vitro methodologies.
