A series of new 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives incorporating thiophene moiety were synthesized by the cyclization of N-(2-thenoyl)-N'-aroylhydrazine in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride. The intermediate and final compounds were characterized by infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR and 13C-NMR) spectroscopy, and by their physico-chemical properties.
