A novel series of L-arginine derivates with imine structure (Schiff bases) were synthetized and the structure was confirmed using spectral methods: infrared (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) and high resolution mass spectroscopy (HRMS). The antioxidant potential was evaluated in vitro using the DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging assays. Most of the synthesized compounds revealed a better antioxidant activity in comparison with L-arginine. The most active compounds were the derivatives that have -NO2 (2e, 2g) and di-OH (2k, 2l) as substituents on the aromatic ring.
