The hepatoprotective activity of extracts from the aerial parts of Agrimonia eupatoria L. and Cichorium intybus L. was evaluated at doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight in a toxic hepatitis model in white rats. Hepatitis was induced with carbon tetrachloride in olive oil (1:1) at a dose of 0.4 g/100 g per kg body weight for seven consecutive days, with evaluation of organ mass, biochemical parameters and histopathological parameters. It was found that the Agrimoniae herba and Cichorii herba extracts at doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight contribute to the reduction and normalisation of biochemical and histopathological indices through the interactions between the studied extracts and cell membranes, located at an essential frontier of cell biology, as determined by ANOVA analysis.
