The aim of the current study was the antimicrobial screening of a newly synthesised thiadiazolic compound, 2-(propylthio)-5H-[1,3,4]-thiadiazole[2,3-b]-quinazoline-5-one. The study was conducted for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of the antimicrobial activity, as well as its influence on the adherence capacity inhibition of certain microbial strains. Antimicrobial activity has been approached by means of instrumental techniques, such as flow cytometry. The results of this study have demonstrated the effect of the newly synthesised compound against Gram-negative bacteria through the permeabilization of the bacterial cell wall and against Gram-positive bacteria through the inhibition of the efflux pumps activity.
