Abstract:
Recently, the interest in possible health benefits of medicinal plants as
antioxidant and hypoglycaemic supplements has increased, due to their phytochemical
compounds exhibiting potent antioxidant properties.
The aim of this study was to assess the in vivo antioxidant activity and
antidiabetic potential of a tincture of Syringae vulgaris flos f. violácea (SV), properties less
investigated for this plant. We evaluated its influence on glycemia and blood antioxidant
enzymes activities in streptozotocin-induced diabetic in rats, compared to an ethanolic
extract of Myrtilli folium (MF), already accepted for its antidiabetic and antioxidant
properties....
