Abstract:

In this paper, the qualitative and quantitative determination of free amino acids serine and threonine in the aerial parts of five Epilobium species from the Romanian flora (E. angustifolium, E. collinum, E. hirsutum, E. montanum, and E. parviflorum) have been established by TLC-densitometry. The high amount of free amino acids has been found in the aerial parts of E. hirsutum, E. angustifolium and E. montanum. Each of the five Epilobium species, except E. collinum, contains four amino acids. High amounts of threonine and low amounts of serine have been found in all aerial parts. Serine is missing in the aerial parts of E. collinum.
