Abstract:

The experiments presented in this paper lead to obtaining of six salves using two lyophilic base types with emulsifying properties having as bioactive compounds the lipid extracts from Mytilus galloprovincialis Lmk., Rapana venosa molluscs and their mixture (1:1, v/v). Therefore there were obtained three salves consisting of: 4% lipid extracts (bioactive compounds), 10% lanoline, 1% Oleum lavandulae and 85% vaseline. The other three salves have different ingredients except the bioactive compounds and Oleum lavandulae: 4% cethylic alcohol, 2% white wax, 14% lanoline, 3% stearic acid and 72% castor-oil.
The purpose of this study was the formulation and quality control over a 90 days observation period of the six salves with lipid extracts from the two molluscs. This quality control consisted of: aspect, colour, homogeneity, odour, pH, tension, penetration method (consistence) and spread capacity.
The results after the final observation period showed a difference between the two types of salves regarding the consistence parameter in which the three first type of salves do not correspond to the limits, differences that can be changed by replacing one or more ingredients from salves base.
In addition, the bioactive compounds from marine molluscs represent a source of new nutraceutical products, which can be used in preventing and treatment of diseases and which represent new source of drugs.
