Abstract:
Furosemide is a powerful diuretic with a poor bioavailability. Its bioavailability can be improved by cyclodextrin binary or ternary complexation. The present study established an HPLC method for the analysis of furosemide in rat plasma. Pharmacokinetic parameters of furosemide in the presence/absence of randomly methylated β-cyclodextrin (RAMEB) were calculated and statistically analysed. The presence of furosemide as a complex with RAMEB led to increased plasmatic concentration and superior in vivo bioavailability.
