Abstract:

The ability to provide timely, accurate and reliable analytical data is the scope of each analyst, and is especially true in the pharmaceutical industry. Analytical data are used to screen potential drug candidates, support formulation studies, monitor the stability of raw materials and formulated products and tests final product for release.
The aim of this paper was to define analytical methods that can be used in the quality control and in the evaluation of stability of some pharmaceuticals from the group of semisynthetic penicillins, especially oxacillin. We performed comparative evaluation of two different methods used for the assay of oxacillin, according to two different editions of the United States Pharmacopoeia, and we also investigated the possibility to apply these assay methods for the quantitative determination of the dissolved oxacillin from capsules.
