Abstract:
Thymus alpestris Tausch ex. A.Kerner is a local species from the Romanian mountains and there are no data about its phytochemical, botanical and pharmacological aspects.
In the vegetal product Thymi alpestris herba were identified phenolic derivatives, flavones, anthocyanins, proanthocyanins, condensed tannin, sterolic saponins, carotenoids, aminoacids and sterols. A content of 0.380-0.410 g % (m/m) flavones, 0.095-0.107 g % (m/m) carotenoids, 7.622-7.884 g % (m/m) phenolic derivatives and 0.72-0.76 mL essential oil in 100 g vegetal product was determined. Essential oil chemical composition was determined by GC-MS technique. The following active chemical constituents were identified: carvacrol (47.74%), γ-terpinene (10.82%), aromadendrene (10.64%) and p-cymene (4.88%).
