Abstract:

During the last decades, computer aided research in pharmacological field goes beyond the classical virtual screening or QSAR analysis, by using advanced digital image processing techniques. Following this trend, the aim of this study was to develop a computer aided method, based on digital image processing techniques, to estimate the area, perimeter and gravity of lesions in experimentally induced ulcer on rats. This method was developed as a replacement for classical methods (such as Scoring Method or Ulcer-Index Method), which have a high degree of subjectivism and low accuracy of the results.
