Abstract:

This study proposes a botanical and chemical examination of acacia flowers, Robinia pseudacacia L. (Fabaceae). The acacia flowers has white butterfly-shaped corolla and they are brought together in drooping clusters. The microscopically exam identified: pieces of epidermis with striate cuticle; papillae; pointed, pluricelullar trichoma, with striate cuticle; small pollen grains; annular and spiral xylem vessels. The vegetal product contains: monosaccharides and other reducing-compounds, polysaccharides (mucilage), flavones, polyphenolcarboxilic acids, tannins, proanthocyanidins, triterpenic saponins. The following compounds were determined: 363.50 – 395.50 mg% polyphenols (expressed in caffeic acid), 92.74 – 102.50 mg% flavones (expressed in rutin). The content of essential oil is less than 0.001ml / kg.
