Abstract:
The present study aims at achieving a comparative pharmacognostic analysis of vegetal products of the type herba harvested from three indigenous species of Artemisia (Artemisia absinthium L., A. abrotanum L. and A. dracunculus L.). The researches which were carried out were meant to describe the anatomic characteristics and to determine quantitatively the active principles responsible for the therapeutic action. The anatomic elements which distinguish the three species are the tectorial hairs: tectorial hairs in form of „T” at Absinthii herba; unicellular verruciform tectorial hairs and short, strongly developed multicellular tectorial hairs at Abrotani herba; unicellular, star-shaped tectorial hairs at Dracunuli herba. From the chemical quantitative point of view, a high content of essential oil (1.05 mL/100 g vp), flavonosides (0.432-0.487 g% rutoside) can be noticed in Dracunculi herba and polyphenolcarboxilic acids (0.546-0.681 g% caffeic acid) in Abrotani herba and Dracunculi herba.
