Abstract:

The authors of the present work want to value the researches made at Fundulea Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Researches Resort through many years, in order to achieve new chemovars of some aromatic plants. It has been chosen Artemisia dracunculus L. (tarragon), because this plant has many chemovars, and one of them have been homologated. Eugenol methyl-ether has been found in the essential oil of tarragon as the mainly component. Eugenol methyl-ether has spasmolytic properties (higher than papaverine) and has no adverse effects as anethole (estrogenic) and estragole (potential carcinogenic). A chemovar with 1.1 – 2.55 % essential oil (v/m) which contains 51 – 60 % eugenol methyl-ether (mainly component) has been obtained.
